The King of Rock and Roll will be in town for Valentine’s Day weekend, performing a “Viva Las Vegas” show Feb. 11 at the Richmond Hill City Center.
Performing live in his highly acclaimed tribute act, Randy Elvis Walker has the voice, look, charisma, moves and outfits of Elvis Presley.
Organized by the Rotary Club of Richmond Hill, the event will raise money for local and international charities.
In addition to the hour-long show featuring many of Elvis’ hits, there will be a stand-up comic, celebrity costume and dance contests, plus a wedding chapel for couples renewing their vows to “get hitched” again or simply pose for themed photos for $10 per couple.
“Our annual events are becoming famous for a fantastic Valentine’s weekend experience,” event co-organizer and Rotary Club board member Larry Barker said. “We hope everybody from our community will try to attend.”
“In 2011, our ‘Grease’ prom raised over $18,000 for charity, and we hope to increase this in 2012,” board member and event co-organizer Ray Pittman added.
Funds raised will go to help the community through senior-citizens programs, educational sponsorships such as the J.D. Gardner Scholarship, causes like The Matthew Freeman Foundation and international initiatives such as Alzheimer’s research and providing clean and safe water to Haiti.
At the Elvis event, a buffet dinner will be available at 7 p.m. in addition to a cash bar. Silent and live auctions also will take place throughout the evening.
Tickets are $50 per person and include dinner, entertainment and dancing.
Sponsorship packages also are available. Logos and accreditation of businesses and individuals sponsoring the “Viva Las Vegas” event will appear on promotional materials.
Tickets can be purchased from Larry Barker by calling 756-5942 or emailing larrybarker@coastalnow.net or Ray Pittman by calling 727 2835 or emailing pittmanr@thomas-hutton.com.
