A fundraising campaign for a new dog park in Bryan County is under way.

Nearly 1,500 local dog lovers and owners have signed a petition to create the Bryan County Bark Park. Residents are being asked to help raise funds to build the park by dedicating a memorial to a beloved pet that has passed away or celebrating the lives of beloved canine family members.

Items available for sponsorship include memorial bricks, fire hydrants and benches. All donations are tax deductible as the organization is obtaining 501(c) 3 status.

Information about the proposed park is online at www.bryancountybarkpark.com, by calling 756-8807 or emailing j.honnor@virginmedia.com, and in many local businesses, including PawParazzi, Cedar Animal Hospital, Coastal Veterinary Group, Richmond Hill’s Best Dry Cleaners, Richmond Hill Pharmacy, Palmer Chiropractic Group, The Carpet Store and The Furniture Parlor. People also can show support at the park’s Facebook page.
