Sins are not hidden from God's sight
pastor corner

Numbers 32:23 reminds us that even though we may think that our sins are kept secret and no one will ever find out, they have a way of surfacing.

The Scripture passage simply says, “Be sure, your sins will find you out.” Some translations say it this way: “Your sins will catch up with you.” In recent weeks, many have seen this played out in their lives. There is a worldwide Internet cheating site for married individuals that has some 37 million customers. The site promises that if you wanted to be unfaithful to your present spouse, you could be matched up with another partner and it would remain confidential. This information recently became public because the company’s information was hacked, and now it is no longer secret.

No matter what we may try to hide, one thing we know, again, from Scripture is that God knows. Hebrews 4:13 tells us that “nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.” More importantly, it goes on to say that even if we go through this life keeping our secrets from others, we will still have to give an account before our Creator. The Scripture also says, “Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”

I am not trying to be self-righteous here, because outside of the grace of God and his help, every one of us is capable of doing almost anything. The good news is that he can and does give us the power to say no to all kinds of ungodliness. Also, even though there are consequences, no matter what we have done, the Lord can and will forgive us if we approach him with a humble heart.
