Politicians alone cannot change country
pastor corner

Probably most people know that this is a presidential voting year, as well as other key elections.

I do encourage every Christian to exercise their right to vote and get involved in any way they choose. In these activities I feel much prayer and taking time to really know the candidates are important.

This is not the issue I wish to address today.

The problem I see among many Christians is that there is this attitude that spiritual revival can come through our politicians. That if only we could vote in godly people who hold biblical views, then somehow our country would automatically become godly.
History ought to teach us that this isn’t true — biblical history as well as the history of our own country.

Voting will never bring in a revival or the great awakening we really need that will change the hearts of our citizens. We need to see a change in our moral climate to where our citizens desire to please our heavenly Father with our lifestyle and attitudes. The Scriptures teach us what we need to do to see this happen in 2 Chronicles 7:14, which says, “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

So the answer does not lie with the politicians, but with we, God’s people. We have to take responsibility, then the Lord will start changing people, including our politicians, from the inside out.
