Our God is a loving God
pastor corner

Despite what some may believe and even try to teach, God is a loving God. God created all that is.

He created a place for man to exist (Genesis 1:1-24) and then said, "Let us make man… (Genesis 1:26). Notice that God made sure man had air to breathe, food to eat, water to drink and ground on which to stand — then he created man.

God knew his creation would need something to do, so man was placed in the "…garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it (Genesis 2:15).

God provided the things man needed, even companionship as man alone, God said, was not good. God started the first home with Adam and Eve; they were the first recipients of God’s love shown to man.

Later, when sin entered the world by Adam and Eve disobeying God, God cared for them. Sin was the choice Adam and Eve made.

James explained sin in this manner, "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

"Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death" (James 1:13-15).

Yes they were punished, cast from the beautiful garden, death entering the world, but God still cared for them and for all mankind. God began showing man his plan for man’s redemption right after the fateful day man gave in to Satan.

Moses wrote, "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel" (Genesis 3:15).

When the angel announced the coming birth of Jesus he said, "Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, ‘Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us’" (Matthew 1:20-23).

Man was not alone when he sinned in the garden and man is not alone when he sins today. God loved man enough to set up this redeeming plan and to see that it was carried out.

God gave his Son freely for the sins of mankind. God allowed his Son to be crucified.

"Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it (Acts 2:23-24).

Two verses most are familiar with tell of God’s love, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved" (John 3:16-17).

Yes, God loves mankind, but men must love him enough to obey his commands. Believe in Jesus as the Son of God, repent of sins, confess the name of Jesus, be baptized for the remission of sin and then live a life of faithfulness all our days.

God love us. Do we love God?
