Knock out cancer

A fundraiser to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society called “Dine Out to Knockout Cancer” will be held Tuesday, May 21 inRichmond Hill. The event is hosted by Lifesavers, Team Dylan and Team Evan, who are joining forces with several local restaurants to find a cure for cancer.

Residents are asked to dine at La Napolera, Hill House Café, Augies, Uptown Deli and Papa’s Pizza, as a percentage of their sales on that day will be donated to the Luekemia & Lymphoma Society.

 Organic gardening

A program on organic gardening and farming will be held at theWetlandsCenterinRichmond HillMay 23 from 6 - 8:30pm.  Dr. George Boyhan of theUniversityofGeorgiawill be presenting the program and representatives from the Bethesda Home  Organic Farm will be on hand for a presentation and a sample of  some of their products. The event is limited to 45 attendees.  RSVP by Wednesday, May 22.  Call 912-727-3334 or email fwarnell@clds.net.  

 

EstinyDay will host its annual Open House from 10AM to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at the Holiday Inn Express, I-95 Gateway. The Savannah Staff will be available to provide program information and answer questions.  All students entering the 9thgrade during the 2013-14 school year, regardless of location, are invited to attend.  At least one parent must be on hand to sign consent forms and undergo a short interview.  Active member sessions meet one Saturday per month from August to June.

 

The EstinyDay Corporation is a Savannah based nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with the sole intent of guiding youth (male and female) toward a successful future. Two separate male and female programs guide students from their freshman through senior years while providing tools required for college and career successes. Based on the principles of Education, Cultural Diversity, Mentorship, Community Service, Positive Self-awareness and Career   Prep, its members are paired with Junior and Senior Mentors while exposed to Professional Mentors in various career fields. EstinyDay is presently available in Savannah, GA and Fayetteville, NC with 3 additional sites slated to open during the next two years in Texas and Oklahoma.
