Sept. 4
The Richmond Hill Historical Society will have a tour of the historic Bryan Neck Presbyterian Church, cemetery, manse and grounds, with an overview of the history by local author and historian Buddy Sullivan, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at 7196 Belfast Keller Road. Tour is free for Richmond Hill Historical Society members. A $5 donation is requested from non-members. Go to

Sept. 6
Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association will present its annual Coastal Georgia “Vets Helping Vets” Poker Run on Sat, Sept. 6. Registration is from 9-11 a.m. First bike out at 10 a.m., last bike out at 11 a.m. Run starts at Savannah Harley-Davidson and ends at Flashback in Richmond Hill. Entry fee is $15 per bike and $5 for additional hand or rider. All proceeds will go to Active Heroes and Amputee Outdoors.

Sept. 9
The Bryan-Evans Retired Educators Association will its first meeting/brunch social of the year at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014 in the social hall of Pembroke United Methodist Church in Pembroke. Meeting will include the installation of officers. Email and put BEREA in the subject box.

Sept. 11
The Bryan County Emergency Services and the Richmond Hill Fire Department will host a 9/11 remembrance ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at Bryan County Firefighter Memorial behind the County Administration Building on  Capt. Matthew Freeman Drive.

Sept 14
The Presbyterian Women of Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church will host a musical and spaghetti dinner event at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Manse on the Bryan Neck campus, 7196 Belfast-Keller Road. Tickets are $10/adult and $2/children 12 and younger, free for children under 6, $25/family. RSVP to 727-2214 and pay at the door.

Free movies in Pembroke
The Pembroke Recreation Department is showing free movies to residents on Movies in the Park night through December in DuBois Square.
Among the films on the schedule are “Mr. Peabody & Sherman” sponsored by Dairy Queen on Sept. 12; “How to Train Your Dragon 2” sponsored by the Pembroke Police Department Auxiliary and Pembroke Fire Department on Oct. 25 and “Frozen” sponsored by Pembroke Advanced Communications.
Start times are determined by sunset, and all films are subject to change without notice. Bring your own chairs and blankets. Concessions will be on sale as well.  For more information call Mandy Toole at the Pembroke Rec Department.

Get fit
The Richmond Hill YMCA and NETA, a non-profit fitness professional association, are co-sponsoring a group exercise certification and re-boot camp workshop in October.
The group exercise workshop is from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4. Potential and current fitness instructors will learn basic academic and practical application of teaching group exercise.
No college, science, or teaching background required. Workshop registration includes a full-day review, written exam, and 2–year certification.
The re-boot camp is from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 and combines power, function, agility, speed, cardio and High Intensity Interval Training.

Driver’s Education
Driver’s education classes are being offered in Richmond Hill through Bryan County Community Education.  Classes are monthly.
