The library will close for the Thanksgiving holiday at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, and will reopen at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29.

Backyard event
Magnolia Manor of Richmond Hill will host “Welcome to Our Backyard” from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, at the facility on Timber Trail Road.
The family friendly event is free to the public and will include fishing, games, a corn-on-the-cob eating contest, music, a cookout, inflatables for kids and more.

Open house
Buckhead North will have a Christmas open house at the subdivision clubhouse from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28.
Vendors include Dream Cakes by Rebecca, The Pampered Chef, Silpada, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Stella and Dot and Willow House. Vendors will be offering food samples, giveaways and discounts. Bring your holiday gift list and take advantage of this one stop shopping event.

Silent auction
The “Common Threads” knit, crochet and quilting group will be hosting a silent auction at the Richmond Hill Library on Nov. 29.
A variety of different items will be available for auction. Each item will have a closing date and time. Please stop by the library to view the items and place your bid. Detailed information is available at the display tables.
All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society/Relay for Life Richmond Hill.

Pembroke judging
The Pembroke Garden Club will be judging Pembroke businesses Christmas decorations on Dec. 3. The judging will be based on street appeal. 
The garden club sponsors the judging to encourage Pembroke businesses to be decorated in the spirit of the season for the Pembroke Christmas tree lighting on Dec. 4 and the Pembroke Christmas Parade on Dec. 11.

Cook-off
The ninth annual Richmond Hill Chili Cook-off will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at JF Gregory Park.     
Come out and sample some of Coastal Georgia’s best chili. There will also be crafts, other food vendors, local entertainment, Silly Dilly the clown, fun for the kids and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Christmas parade
The 15th annual Richmond Hill Christmas Parade will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4.  The theme of the parade is “Christmas on the Coast” and this year’s grand marshall is Mayor Harold Fowler.
Come out and enjoy what has become one of the largest Christmas parades in Coastal Georgia.

Charity ball
Willow Salon of Richmond Hill will host the first Willow Charity Ball from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at the Richmond Hill City Center.
The event, which is black tie optional, will include a dinner buffet, dancing, silent auction and a cash bar. Tickets are $75 per person, and all proceeds will benefit the Bryan County Children’s Fund.
Sponsorships are available at various levels ranging from $75 to $1,2000.

Legion party
American Legion Post 164 and the Ladies Auxiliary invite all area active duty military and their families to the annual Post Christmas party at 7 p.m. Dec. 9. The party will be at the Post home on Hwy. 280, west of Harvey’s in Pembroke.
A meal will be served and Santa will pay a visit to the children. Guests will need to RSVP and should be prepared to give the gender, age and first name of children that will be attending.
Guests will be limited to Pembroke, Groveland, Ellabell and Brooklet area residents. All members are asked to bring a large side dish. Meat, bread and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.
