Bone screenings
The Women’s Information Network will offer free osteoporosis information session and bone density screenings from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah during the free Lunch with a Doctor event.

Wetland workshop
The Richmond Hill Garden Club will have an Adopt-a-Wetland workshop at 9 a.m. Saturday in J.F. Gregory Park Pavilion for volunteers to become certified in chemical and visual monitoring.
This class is also for those who need yearly recertification and fresh chemicals for the testing. Volunteers are sought to test wetlands in their neighborhood or community.

Church homecoming
First Baptist Church of Blitchton will celebrate its 49th year with a homecoming service at 11 a.m. Sunday at 5204 Highway 80.
The Rev. Grady Selph will be the guest speaker. Special music will be featured, and dinner will be in the fellowship hall after the service.

Kicklighter reunion
The 53rd annual Kicklighter reunion will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 28 at Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Glennville. A potluck meal will be served from noon to 1 p.m.
The family meets to celebrate its ancestors Thomas Kicheliter and family, who moved in 1753 to the U.S. from their home in Germany.
There will also be an early bird gathering at 6 p.m. July 27 at the same location.

New Beginnings Community Church will hold a fall-harvest celebration from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at 75 Crosswinds Drive, at the entrance to Buckhead North.
Activities planned include hay rides, hot-dog roasting, face painting, games and prizes. All activities are free and open to the public.

Book signing set for Pembroke Public Library
J.G. Jakes, author of “The River’s Edge,” will have a book signing from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Pembroke Public Library.
When asked to sum up in one sentence what kind of story “The River’s Edge” is, Jakes said, “It’s an altogether human story: love and hatred, regret and forgiveness, faith and consequences and a cross.”
“The River’s Edge” is about an evil man, a horrible murder, a miscarriage of backwoods justice and a young woman’s vow of revenge.
Jakes was born and raised in Shellman. She now is a retired school teacher.  
“It is my genuine desire to share the grace of God and encourage others as they continue on their Christian journey,” Jakes said.

Fall art show, reception planned for Nov. 8
Arts on the Coast will have its fall art show and reception at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, on the grounds surrounding Leahy Art Gallery in Richmond Hill.
