Jury duty cancelled
Bryan County Clerk of Courts Becky Crowe has announced jury duty for April 19 has been canceled. No jurors will be needed.  

Tax commissioner
The Bryan County Tax Commissioner’s South Bryan office is moving to its new location at the new Administrative Complex on Capt. Matthew Freeman Drive on April 15-16 and will be closed for the move. The Pembroke office, which is located near the courthouse, will be open on both days from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. The South Bryan office is scheduled to reopen April 19 at 8 a.m. For more information call the Pembroke office at 653-3880.

Pembroke yard sale

The city of Pembroke will host its annual city-wide yard sale on May 1 from 8 a.m. until noon in the municipal parking lot downtown on Hwy. 280. Booth spaces are available for $10 each. You can sign up at City Hall, located at 160 North Main Street. Call 653-4413 for more information.

Volunteers needed

The Richmond Hill Historical Society is looking for volunteers who are available Friday, April 16 to help price items for the Society’s April 17 “Bake, Book and Garage Sale” from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Richmond Hill Museum. Volunteers are also needed to help set up for the sale and stay throughout the day helping customers. The Society will provide lunch for volunteers on the day of the sale.
Drop off donated items on April 10, April 12, April 15 and April 16 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Donations of baked goods can be dropped off at the museum April 16 or early April 17.
Proceeds from the sale will help relocate Bailey Carpenter’s Barbershop to the Richmond Hill Museum’s campus. For more information call 756-3697.

Fund raiser
The Richmond Hill Historical Society, a non-profit organization, will be sponsoring a Bake, Book, and Sundries Sale on Saturday, April 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds from the sale will go to maintaining the Richmond Hill Museum. Objects for the sale can be dropped off at the Museum on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the event. What ever is not sold on the 18 will be donated to Good Will. Spouse's night out
First Baptist Church of Richmond Hill’s Military Spouse’s Night Out April 16 from 6-9:30 p.m. It is open to any military, church member or not, deployed or not. Enjoy an evening out while your children, from babies to 5th grade, have a fun filled evening designed just for them.

BCHS reunion
The Bryan County High School Class of 1990 20 year reunion is June 12 at 7 p.m. at the Harbor View Room in the Desoto Hilton, Savannah. Dinner and a D.J. Yard sale
What better use of the pavilion in J.F. Gregory Park, but to host a community yard sale? During Georgia Cities Week, April 18-24, the City of Richmond Hill will host the First Annual Community Yard Sale under the pavilion on April 24 from 7 a.m. to noon. Sellers must reserve a booth for $10 to ensure that the pavilion is cleaned. Household items, clothes, furniture, vehicles, and more are welcomed.

Fundraiser
American Legion Post 164, Pembroke, is selling genuine Vidalia Jumbo Onions to support Post activities. The 10 pound bags will sell for $8 each, and the 25 pound bags for $15 each. Delivery will be late April or early May. These onions are from Ray Farms and certified by the state as genuine Vidalia onions. Call B.J. Clark at 653-4958 to place an order or see any member of the Post. Tickets will be sold until late April in the Pembroke, Ellabell and Richmond Hill areas. The Post meets the second Thursday each month at 8 p.m. All veterans are welcome to visit and/or join.

Spring cleaning time
It’s spring cleaning time again. Richmond Hill will kick off Georgia Cities Week with three days of large item trash pickup  through Thursday April 15. This opportunity is only available for the city of Richmond Hill current water account users in residential zoning areas only.
OMI will pick up curb side large items such as appliances, furniture and other bulky items normally not picked up by the regular trash service. All city residents should place their items on the curbside Wednesday morning by 7 a.m. for pickup. OMI anticipates three days of large item trash collection. Questions call 756-3345 or 756-3808.

RHHS
Richmond Hill High School will host a junior parent night on April 15 beginning at 7 p.m. The theme is "Exploring the College Application Process." It is in the cafeteria and is sponsored by RHHS guidance staff. Representatives from Georgia Tech, University of Georgia and Mercer University will be present. Handouts will be provided. GOP qualifying
The Bryan County Republican Party qualifying period for candidates for the 2010 election is from April 26 at 9 a.m. until April 30 at noon. There are a number of positions open on the Bryan County Commission and Board of Education. Qualifying fees are $45 for the County Commission and $18 for BoE. Rabies Clinic
Bryan County 4-H is sponsoring its annual Rabies Clinic on Saturday, April 24 from 8 a.m.-noon at Lanier Primary School, Hwy. 280 East of Pembroke. Cost is $8 per vaccination per cat or dog. Microchip Implants will also be available for $25. Owners responsible for activation and registration. Dr. Amanda Welch, DVM, Richmond Hill Animal Hospital, will administer the vaccinations.
