Bryan County 4-H members made a splash Saturday in Pembroke during their car wash at Pembroke Pharmacy to raise money for the Danny Page Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship fund was established soon after Bryan County farmer Danny Page passed away. Page Farms of Ellabell donates a cow every year to a Bryan County 4-H member to show at livestock competitions while 4-H raises the money to send the recipient to beef school in Perry.

Shanna Waters, 4-H advisor and extension coordinator, said Page greatly influenced her in the time she knew him and sending the recipient to the beef program seemed like a great way to honor Page’s memory.

“We wanted to make sure the recipient (of the cow) knew everything about it,” Waters said. “I thought there was no better way to honor his memory than by doing that.”
