Wildcats survive and advance to Elite 8, Lady Cats eliminated
wildcats north atlanta 1

#4 Richmond Hill 42 - #14 North Atlanta 39

History was made on several fronts last Friday night in The Cage! Not only is it a first since moving to AAAAAA, but is the first time since 1994 the Cats are headed to The Elite 8.

Senior Jaeden “U.S.” Marshall eclipsed 1,000 points….and….Lieghton “Big Dawg” Finley hit a 3!

Ok, forgive me on that one. But knowing the Finleys, I know they’ll all laugh. To be fair, it was only Finley’s 4th attempt of the season. Actually, Finley and Marshall were also in on two plays that sparked the Cats when they needed it. Finley scored 3 of his 12 points on his first 3-ball of the year.

And the pair combined for a 4th quarter play that may have been the key moment of the night. With Richmond Hill down 34-30 and 4:00 left in the 4th quarter, the Cage was lifeless and the Cats looked gassed. HC Bill Henderson motioned to Marshall after he pulled down a board, to run it up the floor. Three seconds later he was in the paint dishing out of a double-team, right to Finley. Finley went up strong, scored and drew the foul. He made the free throw and Richmond Hill’s spark was back.

The team next plays Wednesday night at 5:30. Catch the schedule of events leading up to the game on lowcountryradio.com.

LADIES

The Ladies had a great season (17-7) winning more games than any other under HC Sarah Jones’s tenure. They spent much of the season in the Top Ten, and as high as #6 after starting 9-0.

But the Lady Cat’s season ended in an opening round 54-36 loss at Grovetown (Augusta).
