Richmond Hill scored first, but host Ware County (1-0) scored the rest to take a 20-7 non-region win Friday over the Wildcats.
Zion Gillard scored Richmond Hill’s only touchdown in the first quarter on a 19-yard run with eight minutes left in the first quarter, and Aiden Styan added the extra point.
Gillard, who finished with 101 yards rushing on 25 carries, was named the Plantation Lumber and Player of the Game for his efforts.
The Gators went into halftime leading 12-7 after getting a 62-yard TD run from Dewayne Birden in the first quarter and a 48-yard scoring pass from Nikao Smith to Jarvis Hayes in the second period. Both extra point attempts were missed.
Birden added a 19-yard scoring run in the late in the fourth quarter and the Gators added a 2-point conversion to make it 20-7.
Richmond Hill fell to 1-1. The Wildcats play host to Jenkins on Sept. 2. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
