The Richmond Hill High School wrestling team took its 9-1 dual meet record into Chatham County on Tuesday to face the Savannah Arts Academy.

The Wildcats took down Savannah Arts 45-21 to improve to 10-1.

Coach Brian Brocato did some expert coaching by jumbling his line up to strategically align his best wrestlers against Savannah’s Arts best wrestlers and the outcome was in his favor.

The dual meet began at 171 pounds, where senior Tyrelle Morrisse started off with a bang by defeating his opponent 15-8 and earning seven takedowns in the match.

The Wildcats never looked back, gaining wins at 112 pounds with Justin Delaney, 119 pounds with Ethan Wampler, 125 pounds with Zach Bringer, 135 pounds with Zach Perez and 140 pounds with Kyle Pierce.

The pivotal match was at 152 pounds where senior captain Michael Early avenged a loss he took from Savannah’s Cornelius the year before.  Early won 4-1.

Wrestling tough as well were Cooper Russell at 189 pounds Jameson Cunningham at 145 pounds and Brandon Mason wrestling in his first varsity match of the year at 171 pounds.

The Wildcats next dual meet is Jan. 4 at South Effingham.
