Wildcats succumb to Tattnall County speed 33-0

 It took the Battle Creek Warriors the better part of the first quarter to do it, but when they finally broke a scoreless slugfest open with a Quaysean Davis to Trey James 63-yard catch and run for a touchdown it was like the floodgates had opened and Tattnall County ran away with a 33-0 win.
 After Richmond Hill opened the game at Wildcat Field Friday night with two consecutive drives aiming square at the middle of the Battle Creek Warriors line, Tattnall County tried to counter with the same strategy. The result was two three and out punts for the Warriors and a distinct advantage in field position for the Wildcats.
 The long pass play on third down erased all that and Tattnall County would go on to score again a few minutes later - again it was set up with a Davis to James long pass.
 After a holding call backed the Warriors up first-down-and-25 from inside the 10, Davis hit James toward the Wildcat sideline and he ran for a first down near midfield. Two plays later Tattnall County's Shayon Guest broke free for a 44-yard run through the Wildcat defense. A failed kick put the Battle Creek Warriors up13-0 with six minutes left in the second quarter.
 Brian Brocato said in the pre-season that they were going to have to be a ball control type team to be successful this year. Keep the other team’s offense on the sideline would be the key. In this game the strategy would have worked, but every time the Wildcats seemed to be making a drive there was a penalty, fumble, or misplay that stopped them.
 Tattnall County was by this time taking full advantage of the Wildcats misfortune and scored again before the half on Jesse James 13-yard run. And so it would continue in to the second half.
 An early second half fumble by Richmond Hill set up the next score by Tattnall County's Dwight Stoutamire on a 6-yard run. Richmond Hill's Kevin Bodaford blocked the extra point kick to make the score 26-0.
 With under a minute left in the period Guest would score his second, and the Warriors final, touchdown on the night on a 29-yard scamper. That put the icing on the cake for the Warriors. Richmond Hill went on one final drive but it ended on a fourth down interception. It was just not Richmond Hill's night.
 Last week against Bryan County quarterback Xavier Owens was the Wildcats wildcard and made several big gains on third down to keep drives going. Tattnall obviously saw that tape because they kept Owens contained most of the night and forced him into a couple of big losses and to fumble a couple of times.
 In spite of that Richmond Hill managed to pick up nearly as many first downs as the Warriors and played more physical than their opponents, it just wasn't enough to keep them off the field and counter their speed.
 Richmond Hill,(1-1) will now host a highly touted Savannah Christian,(2-0) team this Friday, game time 7:30 p.m.
