Prep baseball

Bryan County High School won its third straight baseball game on Saturday, an 8-4 win over Liberty County.

The victory gives the Redskins a sweep of the Panthers and improves them to 7-3 overall. Bryan County has beaten Beach, Bradwell Institute, Windsor Forest and Towns County so far this season.

The Redskins play host to Vidalia at 5 p.m. Monday in Pembroke.

Richmond Hill will travel to rival South Effingham at 6 p.m. Saturday to cap a three game series with the Mustangs.

The Mustangs won the first game 10-8 on Monday at SEHS.

Richmond Hill, which is 4-3 so far this spring, played host to South Effingham on Wednesday night. That score wasn’t available.

Prep soccer

Richmond Hill High School’s soccer teams are off to a winning start. The girls are 3-1 overall and 1-0 in Region 2-AAAAAA after a 7-1 win over Effingham County.

The boys are 4-1 and 1-0 in the region after a 1-0 victory of the Rebels.

Richmond Hill will play a doubleheader against visiting Greater Atlanta Christian on Friday. The girls game begins at 5 p.m. The boys’ game follows at 7 p.m.

Bryan County High School plays at Metter on Thursday in a Region 2-AA matchup.

The girls are 1-4 after falling 8-1 to New Hampstead on Tuesday. The boys are 0-3-1.

Softball

The city of Richmond Hill is hosting its Inaugural Charity Softball Tournament from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 23 at the South Bryan County Recreation Department.

It is being billed as a family-friendly event with bounce houses, games, raffles, touch-a-truck, and softball. Watch City administrative staff and elected officials, public works, RHPD, and RHFD team off for a good cause.

All proceeds will be donated to provide local recreation scholarships. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
