Senior Raul Rodriguez took matters into his own hands when the Wildcats downed Jenkins 10-5 on Thursday, March 13.

Rodriguez took the mound and allowed 4 runs over six innings in picking up the win. He also set the tone at the plate when, in the top of the first with two outs and the bases loaded, he hit his first home run of the year.

The Cats would score two more runs in the top of the second to take an early 6-1 lead. Jenkins chipped away at the score making it 6-4 heading into the top of the sixth. At this point, the Cats put the game out of reach. Cody Crowe and John Johnson both delivered hits allowing the heart of the order - Jeremey Goolsby, Nathan Kilburn, and Rodriguez - to deliver RBI hits. Crow would deliver one more RBI hit in the seventh to finish the 10-run attack. Senior Mathew Graney took the mound in the seventh to close it out. Graney allowed one run on two hits to end the game.

The Cats move to 5-2 on the year and continue to hit the ball hard. All five victories have produced double digit scoring efforts. The Cats get a week off before heading into region play next. They travel to Johnson March 20 before beginning region play at South Effingham the following day.
