Richmond Hill High School Principal Charles Spann relieved Coach Brian Brocato of his duties as head football coach Tuesday morning. Spann named offensive coordinator Lyman Guy as Brocato’s replacement.

"This is nothing against Brian," Spann said. "It’s very obvious to everyone that Brian has done his absolute best to help this program. It’s just time to move in another direction."

Brocato declined to comment.

Spann said Brocato will retain his teaching duties at RHHS. He said Guy, who has been a head coach elsewhere for 12 years, is well qualified and is hopeful he will be "an effective way to rekindle some spirit and regain some confidence with the fans."

As a head coach, Guy led Robert Toombs Christian Academy to a pair of Georgia Independent School Association titles. He has also won numerous region titles as well as being named Coach of the Year at a number of levels.

Guy came to RHHS this year from Wayne County High School, but also has coached for Calvary and Vidalia High School. Guy saw the most success during his eight-year run as head coach of RTCA in Lyons. Guy also is a certified speed and strength trainer and has instructed numerous football combines, including for the University of Georgia.
