Richmond Hill High School brought home a trio of titles from Saturday’s Coastal Georgia Cheer Classic.

The RHHS varsity competition cheerleading squad won the Class 5A and grand-champion titles, meaning they posted the highest score of every team in the competition held at Effingham County High School.

“That’s a huge accomplishment,” varsity head coach Brittnee Coffman said. “It was a great weekend for us.”
RHHS also took first place in the junior-varsity division. Richmond Hill JV cheerleader Trinity Jones won the “jump-off” for the entire competition.

Richmond Hill’s 16 varsity competition cheerleaders have been working on their winning routine since June, Coffman said. She credited the cheerleaders for working hard in every practice and constantly pushing themselves to be better.

“They decided at the beginning of our season that they want to make it to the final day of state competition this year, and with these young ladies that is absolutely an attainable goal,” Coffman said. “These girls understand that the only way to achieve that goal is hard work and determination, and they’ve got it.”

Working with Coffman is varsity assistant coach Whitney Pellissier. The JV squad is coached by Michael Riccio.
