With a win against Jenkins County fresh on their minds, the Redskins made the short trip to Claxton for a game against region opponent Claxton High School.
In the end, they fell 11-10 after losing an early lead and battling to get back in the game.
The Redskins quickly took the lead in the first inning with a triple from Aaron Dudley and a sac fly from Ricky Myrick which was followed by a homerun from Andrew Cook (1 of 2 homeruns for the day). The Redskins were unable to regain the lead in the second inning and Claxton racked up five unearned runs to extend their lead 9-3.
A single run by the Redskins in the third inning helped to slightly close the gap and the Redskin defense finally came to life in the bottom of the third and put a stop to the Claxton offense who would only score two more runs in the entire game.
Both teams kept each other from scoring through the fourth and fifth innings but Claxton would put on more run on the board in the bottom of the sixth leaving the Redskins behind 10-4.
But the Redskins’ offense came to bat with fire in their bats and racked up six runs to tie the game in the seventh inning and give themselves new life. Claxton was unable to advance anyone in the bottom of the seventh and the game went into extra innings.
