Bryan County High School girls basketball standout Kayley Wedlow continues to pick up post-season honors while she is still considering recruiting offers.
The most recent came when Wedlow was named a Class A-DI second-team all-stater by the AJC. In being named to the second team this meant the selection committee considered her to be one of the top 10 players in the state in her classification.
Wedlow, who played her junior and senior seasons at Bryan County after transferring from Statesboro High School, led the Redskins (26-4) to an Elite Eight berth this past season as she averaged 17.3 points per game along with 6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3 steals.
Earlier, Wedlow had been named to the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association Class A-DI all-state team. This followed her being named the Region 3 Player of the Year for a second consecutive season. She was also named to the Savannah Morning News all-area team.
Coach Mario Mincey was named the Region 3 Coach of the Year by GACA after seeing his team match the school record for most wins in a season while winning its first region championship in seven years. Mincey was also voted Coach of the Year by his fellow region coaches and was the SMN’s Coach of the Year after Bryan County advanced deeper in the state playoffs than any other area team.
Wedlow’s GACA all-state selection comes on the heels of several members of the school’s football team being named all-staters by the coaching organization.
Tanner Ennis was GACA’s Defensive Player of the Year while running backs Austin Clemons and Jacari Carney, offensive lineman Jett Lewi, tight end Kris Martin and defensive back Ger’bravion Collins were named to the all-state team.
Clemons has signed to play football at Middle Tennessee University, Ennis with Georgia Military College and Carney with Columbus State University.
