PMFL: Finally, a lawyer in the family and no-pick Noah

Welcome to week whatever of the Pembroke Mafia Footy-Foot-Football League, your one stop source for pigskin picking and delicious spiced pumpkin latte.

NEWSFLASH: Former Bryan County News Assistant Editor Ted “Mr. Wolverine” O’Neil announced last week his daughter Erin passed her bar exams and is now a lawyer in Michigan, where she’ll probably spend most of her time suing Canada for not keeping its polar bears on leashes.

Congratulations Erin, you are now honorary PMFL consigliere in case we need free legal advice.

And we do.

Some of us want to fire Will Muschamp without South Carolina having to pony up all $13 million of his buyout to get him to go away and coach defense at UGA when the Gamecocks play them. Sad thing is most of us like Coach Muschamp, away from the coach part.

LAST WEEK’s GAMES: Some things in life are certainties – death, taxes, Richmond Hill City Clerk Dawnne Greene leading the weekly and season results.

She had one miss and has 11 total. We’ll dispense with the weekly totals and get straight to the standings.

Ted is second with 14 misses; Bryan County Administrator Ben “Pippi Longstockings” Taylor is third with 15 misses; PMFL CEO and retired Navy Chief Petty Admiral B.J.

Clark is in fourth with 18 total; PMFL Commissioner of Groupies Mike Clark is fifth at19 misses; PMFL Secretary of the Gospel the Rev. Lawrence Butler is sixth with 20; Pembroke City Administrator Alex Floyd is seventh with 21; your’s truly is next with 22; PMFL Pine Tree Lord Earl Duke Tsar Baron Marquis Viscount Bob Floyd and District 1 Commissioner Noah “King of the North” Covington are tied for ninth with 23 misses.

Finally, District 5 Commissioner Dr. Gene “Dr. Feelgood” Wallace, PMFL’s Undersecretary for Fracking, is in sole possession of first place going the other direction with 3,247 misses so far.

Memphis vs. NAVY: Lawrence, Ben, Ted and Dawnne pick Memphis, rest go with the Squids. Not sure where Noah’s picks went. Maybe the dingos got ‘em. USC-W vs. Arizona: Gene and Alex select Arizona, rest with USC-W.

Texas State vs. GA Southern: All Iggles this week. Penn State vs. Nebraska: Mike, BJ and Alex go with the Huskers, rest with N. Lions (Q: what is a Nittany?? A: It’s a cardigan.) Coastal Carolina vs. Troy: We get to see some Triple Option played the way it should be, all go with CC.

ARMY vs. Tulane: Mike, Bob and Jeff select the Dog Faced Pony Soldiers, rest go with 2 lane.

Enjoy some college football and remember the immortal words of Erk Russell: Do right.

Or, as B.J. says, just go ahead and do right to others before they do right to you. It’s more fun that way.
