Derick Burke of Pembroke caught a 9-foot, 6-inch, 225-pound tiger shark that took first place for the Shark Saturday event  during a tournmanet in Destin, Fla., on Oct. 23.
Burke was aboard the Southern Charm, captained by former Pembroke resident Richard Rogers. The catch was good for $250 in prize money and one trophy for the Shark Saturday event win, as well as another trophy for the Mako My Day Award because it was the biggest overall shark for the entire month-long tournament.
