It was Senior Night at Wildcat Field and nine seniors and their parents were honored before the game.
Senior Billy Kilmer got the start on the mound and turned in his best performance of the year. He pitched a complete game and struck out 7 batters while walking 3.
Pierce County got three runs in the top of the first off 2 walks, 3 singles and a hit-batsman before any outs were recorded. But Kilmer got out of the inning with a strikeout and inducing the Pierce County batter into grounding into the 6-4-3 double play. Kilmer settled down and did not give up any runs the rest of the game.
The RHHS batters put together two-run innings in the 2nd and 3rd innings to take the lead and added an insurance run in the 4th.
Leading hitters for the Wildcats were Freshman first baseman Nick Fitzgerald who went 2-for-2 with 2 singles, one RBI, one run scored and a sacrifice fly. Junior Nathan Ward also contributed to the win going 1-for-3 with a double, one RBI, and a sacrifice fly. Senior Matt Klebe, junior Hunter Hadley and sophomore Alec Childress all had singles as well for the Wildcats.
Richmond Hill (11-10 overall, 2-8 2A-AAAA) will finish the season with a trip to Statesboro on Friday to play the Blue Devils at 6 p.m. at Mill Creek Park.
