The Richmond Hill boys' and girls' basketball teams both lost to host Brunswick in the Region 2-AAAAAA tournament Friday.
The girls lost 36-34 in the consolation game and are the fourth seed in the region. They will travel next weekend in the first round of the state tournament to play the No. 1 seed in Region 1-AAAAAA. The Wildcats trailed 21-13 at halftime. Javionna McDonald led the team with 10 points.
The boys lost 52-48 in the championship and will host the third seed from Region 1-AAAAAA. Justin Jeffery led the Wildcats with 12 points, while Brandon Beckwith added nine.
This will mark the first time since 2012 that the boys have hosted a game in the first round of the state playoffs.
The opponents and times for the games have not been set. Games will be either Friday or Saturday.
