Wildcat wrestlers not slowing down

After winning their first-ever state championship, the Richmond Hill wrestling team continues to rack up the victories.

The Wildcats beat Jenkins 66-9 last Wednesday, then captured first place at the Islands High Shark Fights Saturday.

Richmond Hill bested second-place Beaufort by more than 150 points in the 16-team tournament.

Capturing first place for the Wildcats at Islands were Kaleb Anderson (106), Michael Allen (113), Kamdyn Munro (138), William Evans (145), Jakeem Littles (152), Kevin Murry (182) and William Renshaw (220).

Against Jenkins, Richmond Hill got wins from Sean Lacy (106), Jaimon Minyon (113), Will DeFountaine (120), Dylan Tucker (126), Cory Cramer (138), Krisean Hayes (152), Jonathan Gerlach (170), Kevin Murry (185), Taylor Wilson (192), William Renshaw (220) and Skyler Aguilar (285).

Sectionals for the individual state tournament will be held Feb. 2 and 3, with the championships set for Feb. 8-10. Wilson, who is 36-5 on the year, won the state title at 182 pounds last year and has moved up to 195 this season.
