The Richmond Hill and Bryan County football games that had been re-scheduled for tonight have now both been cancelled.
The Wildcats were originally scheduled to host Pierce County at 7:30 p.m. Friday. It was announced earlier today that Pierce County did not want to move the game to tonight as Richmond Hill suggested and that the Bears would forfeit the game. It was then announced that Pierce County had agreed to play at Wildcat Stadium tonight at 8 p.m.
Bryan County Schools Superintendent Paul Brooksher then announced that classes would be cancelled Friday, Monday and Tuesday, at a minimum. That was followed by the announcement that all extra-curricular activities in the district for today had been called off.
The Redskins were originally scheduled to play at McIntosh County Academy Friday night, but on Wednesday it was announced that game had been moved to tonight. It, too, is cancelled.
District officials said the decision whether or not to make up the football games would be decided at a later date.
The cancellation extends through at least Tuesday for all extracurricular events.
