Track season off to flying start for RHHS

The Richmond Hill High School boys’ and girls’ track teams each finished third in a quad-meet Thursday at Liberty County High School.

The Lady Wildcats got first-place finishes from Amanda Elliott in the 800-meter run and Rachel Hammesfahr in the 3,200. Elliott turned in a time of 2 minutes, 26.20 seconds. Hammesfahr finished her race in 12:52.

Second-place finishers were Nadia Gaines (1,600), Katie Godwin (800), and Emily Hollowell (3,200).

Alycia Ussery placed third in the 1,600, Anna Cabrera was third in the 400, Savannah Ashe was third in the 200 and Emily Wood took third in the long jump for RHHS.

In the boys’ competition, the Wildcats got first-place finishes from Michael Clark in the 100 and 200; Darryl Dunham in the 400; Corey Jones in the 800 and Austyn Harris in the 3,200.

Clark ran the 100 in 11.47 seconds and the 200 in 22.98. Dunham turned in a time of 52.46 in the 400. Jones ran the 800 in 2:01.17 and Harris finished the 3,200 in 11:16.

Third-place finishers from RHHS were Zach Jones in the 1,600 and Adrian Sardina in the 3,200.
