The Georgia High School Association has released the brackets for the first round of the state basketball tournament.

The Richmond Hill boys' team will host a school familiar to Wildcat fans in Lee County. The Trojans beat Richmond Hill 29-21 in the first round of the AAAAAA state football playoffs last November en route to their championship run.

The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday.

The Lee County boys' basketball team finished the season 9-17 overall and 4-5 in Region 1-AAAAAA. The Trojans are the No. 3 seed in their region. The Wildcats are hosting a state tournament basketball game for the first time since 2012 as the No. 2 seed in Region 2-AAAAAA. They finished 15-11 overall and 4-4 in the region.

If Richmond Hill wins, they would play Feb. 21 or 22 and either host Lakeside Evans or travel to Stephenson. The Wildcats have not advanced to the second round of the state tournament since their 1994 state championship season.

The Richmond Hill girls, meanwhile, will travel to face Valdosta at 7 p.m. Friday. Richmond Hill is the No. 4 seed from Region 2-AAAAAA, while Valdosta is the No. 1 seed in Region 1-AAAAAA. Richmond Hill finished the regular season at 15-11 overall and 3-5 in the region. Valdosta was 20-7, 7-1.

If the Wildcats win, they would play Feb. 21 or 22 either at Greenbrier or at MLK in Lithonia.

The Bryan County girls are the No. 4 seed in Region 2-AA after falling 40-37 to St. Vincent's Academy in the consolation game Saturday of the region tournament. The Redskins will travel to face Fitzgerald, the No. 1 seed in Region 1-AA, at 7 p.m. Friday. The Redskins stand at 22-5 overall, 11-5 in the region, while Fitzgerald is 14-5, 6-2. 

If the Redskins win, they would play Feb. 21 or 22 either at Butler or at Washington County.
