Redskins’ impress at home
The boys’ and girls’ track teams at Bryan County High School finished first and second, respectively, at the Redskins’ home meet Tuesday.
In all, the two teams combined for 12 first-place finishes during the meet, which included teams from Long County High School, Claxton, Savannah Country Day, Jenkins and Calvary Day.

Wildcats blast Groves
The Richmond Hill High School baseball team improved to 10-8 overall and 6-2 in 3-AAAAA with a 14-0 blowout of Groves on Tuesday in Garden City.
The Wildcats’ Matt Nyberg went the distance in the game, which was shortened to five innings by the mercy rule. Nyberg struck out six and allowed only two hits.
Richmond Hill’s Byron Vick and Zach Byrd had two hits each. Brandon Findlay, Peyton Carter and Brian MInyon also had hits for the Wildcats, who played at Effingham County on Friday night. Richmond Hill hosts Benedictine (12-4) at 1 p.m. today in a nonregion game. The Cadets are ranked No. 7 in Class AA.

Redskins fall 5-4
Bryan County High School lost a 5-4 heartbreaker to Bacon County on Tuesday in a Region 2-AA baseball game after the Raiders scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win.
Jacob White had two hits for the Redskins, who also got singles from Nathan Leggett, Kyle Koskela, Brett Bacon and Nick Markles.
Leggett took the loss in relief for Bryan County after Dillon Pittman went six innings, holding the Raiders to four runs on four hits while striking out five and walking three.
The Redskins played host to Toombs County on Friday night.
