Richmond Hill beat Glynn Academy 6-2 at home Tuesday night behind the bat and arm of Parker Boyle to earn a spot in the Region 3-AAAAA finals.

Boyle was 3-for-3 at the plate with two singles and a double with a run scored. He also went the distance on the mound, striking out six on four hits with no earned runs.

“This was a great win for us,” Coach Stacy Bennett said. “Our guys are really coming together right now and just doing their job when asked, and that’s the single most important thing this time of year.”

Jackson Finley had two RBI for the Wildcats and Zach Haines added another. Ben Hulsey, who Bennett called the team’s “defensive security blanket,” drew three walks batting eighth, helping the Wildcats get back to the top of the batting order each time.

Richmond Hill plays for the regional title at 6 p.m. Thursday at South Effingham. The game was scheduled for Friday but was moved up a day due to the weather forecast. Both teams are 16-8. The Wildcats were 1-2 against the Mustangs during the regular season. By finishing in the top two in the region, Richmond Hill is guaranteed to host a first-round state tournament series.

“Every team we play will have good players, but it’s the ones who can execute in timely situations who usually come out on top,” Bennett said.
