The Richmond Hill girls’ soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Johns Creek at home Friday night in the quarterfinals of the 6A state soccer tournament.

The Wildcats end their season at 12-8-1.

“They didn’t show us anything we didn’t expect to see,” Richmond Hill Coach Steve Kollman said. “They ran a lot of the schemes Allatoona did but with a lot more speed.”

The Wildcats beat Allatoona 3-2 earlier in the week to advance to the Elite 8.

The Gladiators scored less than three minutes into the game and again with five minutes remaining in the first half.

“We weren’t intimidated, but we just weren’t winning the 50-50 balls,” Kollman said. “I told the girls at halftime that they needed to play with more intensity.”

Kollman said the physicality and speed of Johns Creek won out in the end.

“That’s why we’re scheduling more teams from the Atlanta area during the season,” he said. “You just don’t see that type of play down here much.”
