Bryan County High School opened the Region 3-A portion of its schedule with a bang Monday, beating Jenkins County 17-6 in Millen.
The Redskins banged out more than a dozen hits against Jenkins. Shane Dillon was 4 for 5 with a double and three runs scored. Zach Shinall and Alex Covington each had three hits as well for Bryan County, which improved to 5-2 overall.
"We got to Jenkins tonight and the bats got hot," Bryan County coach Tony Dragon said. "We were very good at running the bases and very aggressive. We made Jenkins pay for every mistake they made."
Garrett Riggleman earned the win, tossing three innings and allowing only two runs while striking out two. Nick Rud and Corey Cook came on in relief and threw well while Bryan County's defense also sparkled at times.
"We had some stellar defensive play that helped the pitchers out of a few jams," Dragon said.
