Former Richmond Hill High School pitcher Kevin Matthews, a first-round draft pick of the Texas Rangers in 2011, is 2-2 with a save for the Hickory (N.C.) Crawdads of the South Atlantic League’s Northern Division. Matthews has pitched in 13 games for the Crawdads with nine starts. In 46.2 innings, Matthews has allowed 45 hits and walked 45 batters but has 48 strikeouts. He ERA is 4.63. The Crawdads are currently 21-19 and a game out of first place in the second half of the season.
