It took nine innings to decide the winner and unfortunately for the Lady Redskins the Vidalia Softball team claimed the 9-6 win. Bryan County High School’s late inning game was then followed by an 8-0 shutout loss to Vidalia during the first round of the Region 2-AA playoffs held Thursday.

During the extra inning matchup neither team placed a run on the scoreboard until the fourth inning when Vidalia scored on a Lady Redskin error. The Lady Redskins answered back in the fifth inning when Brooke Barfield scored Alyssa Edwards and Logan Harrell off a two-run single.

At the end of the sixth inning the game was tied 3-3. Both teams kept the game alive by scoring one run each in the eighth inning.

But in the ninth inning the Lady Indians scored five runs on a two run double by Regan Norfleet, a fielder’s choice and an RBI single by Katelin Blount.

The Bryan County girls only managed to score in two runs resulting in the 9-6 loss.

Barfield pitched all nine innings walking only three and striking out six batters.

Edwards was 2-of-4 with 1 RBI. Paige Shuman was 1-of-2, Taylor Roop finished 1-of-4. Harrell, Barfield and Layton Harrell were 1-of-5 each with Barfield and Logan Harrell also getting 1 RBI each.

In the second game the Lady Indians jumped to an early 6-0 lead by the third inning and added two more runs in the sixth to close the game by the run-rule.

Barfield pitched two innings and gave up four hits and two runs. Her sister pitched the rest of the game. She got two strikeouts, gave up seven hits for six runs.
