The 2016 Resolution Runz 5k and 10K Races, set to benefit the Richmond Hill High School Junior ROTC Program, are scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at J.F. Gregory Park.

This year’s sponsors include Coastal Electric and the Fort Stewart Sergeant Audie Murphy Club, who both recently supporting the Junior ROTC at the Gold Level Sponsorships.

Other local businesses include Navy Federal Credit Union and Royal Oak Car Wash, which are Silver Sponsors.
The McDonald’s in the Love’s Travel Stop on Highway 144 and Jalapeno’s Mexican Restaurant also have joined in support by agreeing to supply postrace snacks.

The Junior ROTC cadets have helped plan the run.
“Richmond Hill High School JROTC is a cadet-run program,” said retired Col. Stephen Renshaw, the Junior ROTC commander. “The work in planning, preparing and executing the Resolution Runz has been through the tireless efforts of the cadets. For several months now and with Game Changers, cadets have been diligently recruiting sponsors, coordinating logistics and promoting the race to ensure it’s a first-rate event.

“The community’s sponsorship or attendance, whether you’re a runner or not, is support for these cadets,” Renshaw said. “All the proceeds go back to the cadets’ program and their co-curricular activities such as the color guard, drill team and Raiders, just to name a few.”
The cadets were asked to get sponsors and organize planning committees, advertising plans and race-day functions.

The Junior ROTC Booster Club has also been supportive, as in the past, in donating time and advice to the cadets during the planning.
