Different classification, same result.
Defending state 800 champ Shaquille Walker won his fourth straight region title at the Region 2-AAAA track and field meet April 22-23 in Statesboro. Walker's previous three titles were in Region 3-AAA.
His time of 1:52.71 at the 2-AAAA meet was nearly1 15 seconds faster than that of the runner up.
Walker also anchored the Wildcats' 2-AAAA champion 4x400 relay team, which also consists of Marcus Morris, Tradd Stephens and Darryl Dunham. The foursome turned in a time of 3:27.64 to place first.
The top two finishers in each event qualify for the state meet. Also placing at the 2-AAAA meet were Chelsea Callahan, who took seventh in the 3,200 with a time of 13:57.41 and Rachel Scott, who placed eighth in the discus with a throw of 82-9 3/4.
Dunham also finished third in the 400 and Beau Baker took eighth in the 1,600. Deon Davis placed fourth in the 300 hurdles as well.
