After a dramatic comeback in game two to tie the finals at a game apiece, the Auburn Tigers lost 2-1 to Oklahoma in game three of the Women’s College World Series Wednesday night, giving the Sooners the national championship in the best-of-three series.
Bryan County alum Tiffany Howard was 1-for-3 in the final game for the Tigers and was on-deck when the last Auburn out was made in the top of the seventh inning. Howard was 9-for-23 at the plate in the WCWS with eight runs scored and an RBI. Her leaping catch at the left field wall to rob Oklahoma of a home run in game two Tuesday night kept Auburn alive in a game it eventually won in extra innings.
The Tigers finish the season with a school-best record of 58-12 with two consecutive SEC tournament titles and a first-ever trip to the WCWS finals.
