Lady Cats scores region victory of Lady Devils
RHSB Allie Washington

Allie Washington pushed her record to 3-0 as she gave up only four hits to lead Richmond Hill to a Region 2-6A opener 7-0 win at Statesboro. The Wildcats (3-2, 1-0) will take on winless Bradwell Institute (0-3, 0-0) at home Tuesday night.

Richmond Hill broke the game open with four runs in the third and tacked on three in the fourth to support Washington who struck out five and walked one in lowering her ERA to 1.04 and her WHIP to 1.1386.

Coach Chris Jenkins’ team sent 10 batters to the plate in the third inning to score the only runs Washington needed in turning in another strong performance. The Wildcats defense committed three errors but the Blue Devils stranded eight as they could not solve Washington’s offerings.

Avery Fisher broke a scoreless tie when she hit a one out two-run home run to score Kayla Ragins who had doubled leading off the inning. Kamdyn Richbourg and Lucy Tuttle picked up RBIs when they drew bases-loaded walks.

In the fourth Brooklyn Meyer, Daisy Avery and Taylor Gilbert all had run-scoring singles as six different Wildcats had at least one RBI. Richmond Hill had nine hits with Ragins, Meyer and Avery had two each.
