The second annual Mikell Foxworth Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for June 2 at Black Creek Golf Club.

The event is being put on by the Red Clay Diamond Club, which was established in 2016 to raise funds in support of Bryan County High School’s baseball and softball teams.

Foxworth was a lifelong Bryan County resident and former Redskins baseball player who was also active as a recreation league coach and umpire.

The cost for a four-person team is $300 and teams that register early can choose an 8 a.m. or 1 p.m. shotgun start. Hole sponsorships are also available for $100.

Funds raised by the Red Clay Diamond Club so far have allowed the group to buy equipment such as batting helmets, bats and warm-up jackets for the baseball team, as well as donate to the BC Middle School "Men of Distinction" mentoring program.

The group has also worked with Bryan County Schools to repair existing equipment and purchase a new batting cage to be used by the middle and high school baseball and softball teams.
