On April 26, the Black Creek Golf Club will be hosting a Golfer Appreciation Day to benefit the Savannah Chapter of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate). CASA is an organization that helps abused or neglected children that become entangled in an overcrowded juvenile justice and foster care system.

Money raised from the event will help CASA provide an innovative, cost-effective solution to this crisis by recruiting and training volunteers to provide individual advocacy for innocent children who might otherwise be "lost" in the system. These volunteers often serve as the eyes and ears of the court and become a powerful voice in a child’s life.

"One of our goals here at Black Creek is to develop a rapport within the local communities and strengthen and develop lasting relationships with businesses and agencies, such as CASA," Black Creek Head golf pro Alex Doty said. "Our Golfer Appreciation Day is just one way the public can get to know us here at Black Creek and it will be a great opportunity for us to contribute to such a worthy cause."

The Golfer Appreciation Day is open to the public and the first 150 golfers who sign up to play a round of golf (call for Tee times) will be eligible to win prizes throughout their round of golf at Black Creek. The highlight of the day will be a $100,000 hole-in-one prize for any golfer that makes a hole in one on the course’s #11 hole (Par 3). Other hole-in-one prize opportunities will be available such as a Yamaha golf cart, an electronics package and Callaway golf clubs.

Hole sponsorships are available for $150-$300. Title sponsorships are also available for $500-$1,000 which will get your name or company name on the main sponsor banner along with a sign on a designated hole. Donations from non-golfers who would like to contribute are also being accepted.

Hot dogs and soft drinks will be provided for the golfers and will be served by the Black Creek staff. The cost is $42.80 ($36.38 for senior citizens). For more information, contact the Black Creek staff at 858-GOLF (4653) or visit the Black Creek website at www.blackcreekgolfclub.com.

Young golfer gains valuable experience, exposure at tournament
Ledger Conley
Ledger Conley
Ledger Conley did not get the results he was looking for in the USGA Junior Amateur tournament this week but he didn’t come up empty-handed, either. While the rising Richmond Hill senior failed to advance to the field of 64 in the prestigious tournament --- he shot a pair of 75s to finish at 9-over par --he gained a world of experience on the biggest stage of his golfing career in addition to ratcheting up his recruiting profile.
