When Lacey Howell started high school at Bryan County four years ago, she determined she was going to be involved in as many activities as possible while also, in her words, “making good grades.”

Howell has met all of her expectations and last Friday night she achieved something that was not on her list:  the popular senior was named Bryan County High School’s Homecoming Queen. Earlier in the day star football running back Anddreas McKinny was named Homecoming King at a school pep rally.

A list of Howell’s accomplishments during her school years is a testament to her drive, discipline, time management and organizational skills.

The University of Georgia-bound Howell—she hopes to some day become a lawyer – is the head manager for the football team having been a manager for four years. She is also captain and No. 1 player on the girls golf team which last spring went to the state tournament for the first time ever and wound up finishing eighth.

Howell is senior class president, Beta Club secretary and a member of the Superintendent’s Advisory Council. She also works in the Board of Education office as part of the school’s work program. The daughter of Rachel Howell, she also participates in 4H. Howell was escorted by her father BJ Howell.

Doing the crowning of the new Homecoming Queen was 2024 Homecoming Queen Gi’auni Smith who is currently attending Savannah Tech where she is majoring in medical technology.

Senior members of the Homecoming court are: Evelyn Ke, the daughter of Mei Chen and QiaoMing Ke who was escorted by Christy Dyson and Bailey Gallups. Kadence McGhee, a member of the cheerleading squad, who is the daughter of Lisha and Daniel McGhee.

Representing the junior class was track and cross-country standout Lexi Lane who is the daughter of Matthew and Rachel Lane. Gracin Gamble, the daughter of Jimmie and Nacondus Gamble represented the sophomore class and representing the freshman class was Riley Pennick who is the daughter of Tyler and Ashley Pope.
