Bryan County recreation football league action heated up again this past week for both ends of the county. Here is a rundown of some of the recent games:

In Saturday’s 10U Richmond Hill-Savannah game, the Cats put away the game early, leading 33 - 0 at halftime. The offense clicked on all cylinders, with Ronnie Harris rushing for 122 yards on five carries for three touchdowns and Xavier Bryant-Long hauling in a long touchdown pass from Dominic Montalto. Montalto also had a touchdown run on a quarterback keeper.

The defense was again dominating, not allowing a first down the entire game. Joe Davis led the way with two tackles and three assists, and Hunter Jiran had a quarterback sack, a tackle for a loss, and two assists. Montalto had an interception return of 25 yards for a touchdown and Xavier Bryant-Long also had an interception and a 15 yard return.

Monday’s Redskins-Hurricanes game proved to be an action-packed game filled with local players. The Hurricanes are coached by Chris Brown and the Redskins are coached by Alan Young.

For the Hurricanes on the offense Blake Joyce ran for 2 touchdowns. Dylan Whitfield had a touch down. On the defense Colin Brown was in on 5 tackles. Dylan Long was in on 4 tackles. Whitfield, Jason Strickland and Dahlson Brown were in on 3 tackles each. Gavin Gibson and Gavin Thompson were in on 2 tackles each. Marshall Livingston and Calin Deloach were both in on a tackle each.

For the Redskins on the offense Jeffrey Young had 3 touchdowns and one extra point for a total of 196 yards. Christian Thomas scored a touch down and two extra points for a total of 23 yards. Landon Thomson recovered a fumble. On the defense Young made an interception and ran it back for one of his touchdowns. Landon Thomson and Warren Thomson both recovered a fumble. Warren Thomson and Young were in on 9 tackles. Hunter Warnell was in on 7 tackles. Keith Moultrie, Landon Thomson and Thomas were all in on 5 tackles. Christian Shellman was in on 3 tackles. Christian Morgan was in on 2 tackles. Jarrett Brown was in on one tackle. The final score was Redskins 34-Hurricanes 19.

On Sept. 17, the first 8U in-house Hendrix Park league featured its first two games. Chris Brown’s Hurricanes beat Jay Brazell’s Steelers 12-0.

In the second game, Alan Young’s Redskins beat Rick Mitchell’s Wildcats 33-26. For the Redskins, Jeffrey Young was in on seven defensive tackles and on the offensive had 164 yards with five touchdowns and one extra point. Christian Morgan, Warren Thomson and Christian Shellman were in on three defensive tackles. In the second quarter, Christian Thomas recovered a fumble to give the Redskins a first down; he also had 61 yards on the offensive and two extra points. Landon Thomson was in on two defensive tackles. Keith Moultrie was in on three defensive tackles and on the offensive he had 24 yards. Warren Thomson sacked the quarterback and recovered the fumble in the fourth quarter.
