Boys' lacrosse: Wildcats lose to Greenbrier in close game
RHHS

On Friday night, the Richmond Hill Wildcats played host to the Greenbrier Wolfpack of Evans, Georgia. The Wildcats would drop the game 6-5 in a physical contest.

“I think we played well in this game overall,” head lacrosse coach Tom Corbin said. “We just ran out of gas there towards the end of it.”

The game remained close all evening, as Greenbrier would hold onto a 2-1 lead by the end of the first quarter.

“We have been playing them pretty close lately,” Corbin said. “The last 3-4 times that we have played them, the game has been close each time. It’s always a good game for both sides.”

Heading into the break, Greenbriar held its biggest lead of the day--ahead by only two points--as they secured a 3-1 lead.

“For us, we have to find a way to stay out of the penalty box,” Corbin said. “That has been something that has held us back.

“They had a great goalie. I think he blocked 4-5 shots there early on, and that had a mental effect on us. Our guys like to get it going offensively, and he made that difficult. We played well on defense, but just did not score enough.”

Richmond Hill Wildcats (6-4) will host the May River Sharks (2-6) on March 19. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
