18 Wildcats on All Region 2-AAAAAA team

Richmond Hill High School placed 18 players on the coaches’ All Region 2-AAAAAA football team announced Tuesday.

Wildcat running back Jalen Rouse, a junior, and offensive linemen Lachlan Holt and Joe Fusile were first-team offense picks. Holt is a senior and Fusile is a sophomore.

First-team defenders from Richmond Hill included sophomore defensive linemen Shaquan Brooks and Nathan Vickers, senior linebacker Jackson Bixler and sophomore defensive back Jordan Clark.

Senior punter Matt Daniel and junior specialist Buckley Bayens were also selected to the first team.

 The Wildcats had nine players earn honorable mention from region coaches, among them senior running backs Jamal Polite and Kollins Pettaway, senior kicker Anthony Salazar and sophomore kicker Britton Williams. Defensive players to earn honorable mention were Timmy Fortson, a junior linebacker, senior defensive lineman Dederick Butler, senior cornerbacks Ronald Fuselier and Michael Freightman, and senior linebacker Ruii Hernandez.

The Wildcats finished the 2018 season 5-6 and advanced to the second round of the state Class AAAAAA playoffs.

Glynn Academy coach Rocky Hidalgo was named the region’s coach of the year. Bradwell Institute’s Kevin Harris was named player of the year, Tigers’ quarterback Vincent Gilbert was named offensive player of the year and Glynn defensive lineman Marlon Taylor was the region’s top defensive player, according to coaches.
