What did you do with your Sunday?

This past Sunday has come and gone. Some people went fishing, others slept in, or other things they wanted to do. Then there is that group of Christians, not those who pretend, but those who really believe in, trust in Almighty God. They went to worship.

There action is rebuked by some, but they realized they had an opportunity to praise and worship the God of heaven.

God created the world and everything in it (Gen. 2, 3). He made nature, and all the things that some use for recreation. It was God who created man and gave mans body the knowledge to know man needs to rest. Those who believe they do everything for themselves should stop and think about all the physical blessings that God has given man. Paul put it this way, “For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring” (Acts 17:28). Without God man could do nothing.

What is amazing is that God has made it possible for man to come before Him and worship. “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:14 – 16). Who is man that God would even think of him?

The Psalmist wrote of this very thing, “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:” (Psalm 8:4 – 6) Man is God’s creation. God loves man and wants man to be able to spend eternity in heaven (John 3:16).

It is amazing that thousands will flock to just get a glimpse of and earthly king, but when the King of all opens the way for men to come and be in His presence it does not seem that important to so many.

Many fail to realize how important they are to God, the one who loves them.

God’s love is shown in His preparing the way man could be forgiven for their sin. That is important because man may not pay attention to God here, but on the day of judgement all will be there. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad” (2 Cor. 5:10). That includes everyone.

This should cause one to pay attention to what God has said. When man sinned in the Garden of Eden (Gen. 3), God could have justly destroyed man, but instead He sent a Savior. Imagine Christ was willing to leave heaven and come to earth in the form of man. “5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:5 – 11).

Christ one of the Godhead, love man enough to make this sacrifice.

Man should want to worship God, he should seek to please God every day.

God let’s man make that decision. Why not obey the gospel and live for God every day? What will you do next Sunday?
