We can call on God in our times of need
pastor corner

It is a truth to say that God wants to be in a relationship with his creation.

Sin is what separates us from such a relationship, but the good news is that God has made a way for us to take care of the sin problem. He sent his Son Jesus to sacrifice his life for our sins. If a person trusts in Jesus as their savior then their sins are forgiven and they enter into a relationship with God the Father. In this relationship God desires to communicate with us and he desires us to communicate with him.

Praise and thanksgiving should be a major part of our conversation, but we are also invited to bring our needs to him as well.

Hebrews 4:16 reminds us of this when it says, “Let us approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

There are times when we have a physical need, a financial need, times we hurt or are disappointed or grieve, times when we are afraid and so on.

I remember when I was a teen and went fishing at a lake that was way back in the woods. A major thunderstorm suddenly came seemingly out of nowhere and here I was by myself over a half of a mile away from the nearest road.

Lightning was flashing every few seconds and it became dark quickly. I will admit that I was afraid and was calling out to my heavenly Father to keep me safe and to help me get back home.

The good news is that I did make it home safely. But the truth I am trying to get across is that God takes pleasure in his children depending on him, and he doesn’t mind if we ask him to help us no matter how small the request.

So if you don’t have a relationship with God, you can by simply choosing to accept the forgiveness offered through Jesus. If you already have a relationship with God then feel free to take your every need to him because he truly cares for you.
