Waiting for God’s goodness
pastor corner
When I was just a boy growing up in southern Indiana, I remember when the weather started to get warmer in the springtime that I would go out on our porch and sit against the wall of the house waiting for the sun to shine upon me and get me warm.

I remember shivering but the wait was worth it.

In the book of Lamentations 3:25-26, we are told, “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord”. The idea here is we are reminded that God does not disregard those who seek Him, and those that wait on Him will be recipients of His goodness.

Just like I waited for the warmth of the sun, so there are things from God that He desires to give us that we need to be patient in expecting them. There are prayers that will be answered, not according to our timing but God’s timing.

There are those who desire a companion in marriage and need to wait for the right person and not get ahead of God’s will. There are those who go down a particular career path instead of waiting on the path God desires and will end up with a less rewarding situation.

If we learn to wait upon the Lord, we will experience good things from our heavenly Father. Heaven is the greatest prize that is going to be worth waiting for, and the good news is that anyone who chooses to get there can.

Jesus Christ, God’s Son, said Himself that He was the only way to the Father. He alone is the giver of life and the only way to heaven.
