Team Jesus: Not just for a select few
pastor corner

I will admit that I do enjoy watching a little bit of college football, but I have come to the conclusion that there are only a few teams that even have an outside chance of ending up winning the national championship.

For the last four seasons the final playoff game has been between the same two teams, Clemson and Alabama, and it looks pretty promising to see the same thing this year – although I’m sure Georgia will have something to say about that.

The main reason these same teams have winning seasons every year is that they are able to recruit the best players from around the country.

I am so glad the salvation offered to us through Jesus Christ is not this way. It’s not just that a select few have a chance of going to heaven.

In Romans 1:16, the writer Paul says that he is “not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.”

You don’t have to be part of a prestigious family to be invited to believe. You don’t have to be of a certain race to be invited. And you don’t have to be from a certain income bracket in order to receive eternal life.

We will have to wait and see who ends up being the national football champion, but today you personally can know that you win because you joined the Jesus team.
