For some reason I was thinking about a song that I hadn’t heard for many years performed by “the Doobie Brothers”. The song was titled, “Taking it to the street” and is about encouraging public solidarity against poverty and everyday hardships. It is true that there are a lot of things that we need to raise public awareness for.

As I thought about this title, I had to ask myself, what is the most important issue that people need awareness in? It is the awareness that God loves humanity and that He desires a relationship with us. It is the awareness that there is a huge issue that prevents this from happening and that issue is sin (everyone is born with a sin problem). It is the awareness that God has provided a solution for this sin problem and this solution is the person of Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:8 puts it this way, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Our world is full of people with no hope and Jesus is the answer. We as believers are instructed to take this message of hope to the streets. Matthew 22:9 says, “Go to the street corners and invite everyone you see”. We have the answer to mankind’s greatest need, so let’s share it.
